Online payments can be blocked if your bank is not aware you are making a transaction abroad. So before making your registration, please advise your bank about the payment.

Sometimes emails from the registration site can be intercepted on receipt by ‘spam’ filtration. Please check your filtered messages, ‘clutter’ and ‘junk’ mail folders for messages from cms@royalholloway.ac.uk.

Scholarships

PhD Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available for PhD students who will be presenting at the conference.

Financial hardship

As in past years, EATAW will offer a very small number of scholarships (2-3) to participants from outside the UK presenting at the 2017 conference who are experiencing financial hardship. These scholarships cannot be combined with the PhD fee reduction and are therefore not open to PhD students. The scholarship is likely to be a small amount, including a fee waiver and possibly some small amount of money towards accommodation. It will not cover the accepted applicant’s full costs. The EATAW Board reserves the right to award a larger amount to a smaller number of deserving applicants, or a smaller amount to a larger number.

To qualify for a scholarship, applicants should have had a proposal accepted, and should already have the right to travel to the UK. They should also be able to present evidence of low income or difficult financial circumstances. We anticipate this will include, but is not limited to, scholars displaced by conflict in the Middle East, those who are between jobs, and those whose salaries are very low, such as teachers in state institutions in low income countries. That your institution does not support the research efforts of its own staff will in itself not normally be considered a qualifying ground.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please submit a copy of your CV and a one-page application letter explaining why you believe you qualify to EATAW2017@rhul.ac.uk by 20 April. In the subject line please put ‘EATAW scholarship application’ and your name.
