Dr. Katrin Girgensohn is a faculty member at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder)/Germany, where she founded the Writing Center in 2007. Currently, she is academic director of the Writing Center and director of the Center for Key Competences and Research-oriented Learning. Her research interests include collaborative learning, peer tutoring, writing groups and writing center research. Her present research focuses on leadership and institutionalization and is based on a year as visiting scholar in various writing centers in the USA. She has published several books and numerous articles in this field. As a board member of the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) from 2003 to 2005 and as chair of the European Writing Centers Association (EWCA) from 2010-2014 she helped to build a European community for academic writing scholars. At the European University Viadrina she hosted the first German-speaking peer writing tutor conference in 2008 and the conference of the European Writing Centers Association (EWCA) in 2014.
